Dive Control Specialist/Divemaster (DCS)
The DiveCon is our first leadership level. You will study advanced physics, physiology, and decompression theory. You will practise advanced rescue techniques, fine-tune your diving skills, and learn the basics of teaching
- As a certified DiveCon you can:
Work on Dive Boats, in Facilities or Resorts.
Take people diving, lead trips and tours
Assist SSI Instructors in the pool and open water
Teach skills in the pool under the supervision of an instructor
Teach independently Scuba Skills Update, Snorkeling, Try Scuba Diving and selected SSI Specialty Courses and with additional training become SCUBA RANGERS and/or Medic First Aid Instructor.
Open Water Instructor (OWI)
This program prepares you to become an active member of the scuba industry, a sucessful educator, and a valuable dive business employee.
Your training includes learning:
How various industry stakeholders interact – manufacturers, media, agencies, retail and travel
How successful dive retailers and resorts operate
The SSI Education System and Education Philosophy
Techniques for teaching home study academics, pool and open water
The legal aspects of teaching
The basics of educational selling using SSI`s Customer Loyalty Cycle
As an Open Water Instructor you can teach:
Open Water Diver, Scuba Diver, Advanced Adventurer, Stress & Rescue, Scuba Skills Update, Try Scuba and the Universal Referral Program
Specialty Instructor (SPI) and Advanced Open Water Instructor (AOWI)
Teaching specialty programs is a perfect way to continue to grow as an instructor and increase your revenue channels. Specialty Courses offer variety and are convenient to learn. Instructors may qualify to teach specialty courses by attending a seminar, co-teaching with an Advanced Open Water Instructor, or documenting significant experience and purchasing course teaching materials.
There is a variety of Specialty Courses to chose from:
Boat Diving, Computer Diving, Deep Diving, Diver Stress & Rescue, Dry Suit Diving, Enriched Air Nitrox, Equipment Techniques, Night / Limited Visibilty, Navigation, Search and Recovery, Digital Underwater-Photography, Waves, Tides and Currents and Wreck Diving
Dive Control Specialist Instructor (DCSI)
Make the jump from training divers to Dive Leaders. In doing so you become a key player in the success of your dive facility and meet one of the requirements for becoming a Master Instructor. Having the ability to teach DiveCons can be rewarding fun and profitable.
Instructor Trainer (IT)
Conduct the Instructor Training Course and prepare the instructor candidate for their final Instructor Evaluation (IE), as well as train Advanced Open Water Instructors, Dive Control Specialist Instructors and Crossovers.
